How to choose a crib sheet?
When choosing a crib sheet, you should be primarily interested in the size and material. The sheet should fit the dimensions of the cot exactly, so that it doesn’t slide off when the baby wiggles even a little.
The choice of material is usually a bit more demanding. But if you know what options are available and are aware of their pros and cons, you can easily choose a baby sheet. Baby sheets are made of:
- Organic materials – Organic materials, most often organic cotton, are kind to children’s skin. However, organic materials tend to be a little more expensive and there are not as many colours to choose from as with other materials.
- Microfibres – Polyester or polyamide are extremely fine man-made fibres that are very soft and pleasant to the touch. They are also stain resistant. However, they are hotter materials and so children may sweat more in them.
- Nanofibers – Nanofibers are breathable and dust mite resistant, making them ideal for children with allergies. However, the sheets have a slightly higher price tag and a limited number of designs to choose from.

How does the Nanobotton® zippered baby mattress sheet work?
Nanocotton® baby sheet can fully replace an anti-mite mattress cover. Nanocotton® is a revolutionary textile combining the popular cotton sateen with a functional nanofibre fabric. It is the nanofibers that create an impermeable barrier that does not allow dust mites, viruses or bacteria to penetrate the inside of the sheet.
Nanocotton® consists of a total of three layers:
- Cotton satin – The top layer is made of 100% organic cotton. This natural fabric is of high quality, has a dense and firm structure, which guarantees that the baby sheet will last a really long time. In addition, it absorbs moisture perfectly, is breathable and adapts to the ambient temperature. It is therefore pleasantly cool in summer and warm in winter.
- Nanofiber membrane – A layer of nanofibers creates an impermeable barrier that prevents the penetration of mites, viruses and bacteria.
- Polyester fabric – The last layer is made of 100% polyester, which gives the sheet additional strength and stability.

Packaging
The baby sheet arrived in a cardboard box covered with cobwebs. Unlike other anti-mite bedding with a dark blue paper stripe, those made of Nanocotton® are marked in beige. On it, you will classically find the name of the product and its dimensions.
After unpacking the box, we received an information leaflet regarding the functionality of the nanofibers and the maintenance of the sheets. We were a little surprised to see a few black dots on the sheet. However, we then found on the website that it was the remains of a cotton plant, proving that the cotton is indeed organic and has not been bleached or dyed in any way.
Quality of material and sewing
The bio-cotton used is very soft to the touch , which surprised us very pleasantly. It also meets the GOTS certification. This internationally recognised standard regulates the entire process of producing organic fibre textiles, including processing, manufacturing, packaging, labelling, marketing and distribution. GOTS is considered one of the highest standards in the textile industry and guarantees that textiles meet strict environmental and social criteria.
When you have to cover the whole bed with a sheet, including the bottom, quality sewing is essential. The seams are very strong, the zipper doesn’t tear anywhere and the corners sit where they should. We bought a 120 x 60 zipped baby sheet, but there is also a 140 x 70 size available.
Functionality
My son is allergic and at home he got used to sleeping on the anti-mite cover without any problems. We let him try the Nanobotton® zippered baby sheet at the cottage. To be honest, we have to say that my son hasn’t noticed any difference and he kind of doesn’t care what he sleeps on, as long as nothing is pushing him anywhere or scratching him.
What is important for us is that the allergy symptoms he had been struggling with did not manifest even after the change of environment. My son sleeps continuously throughout the night and does not sweat. We can only confirm the effectiveness of the Nanobavlna® anti-mite sheet for children.

Maintenance
nanoSPACE recommends washing the Nanocotton® sheet in detergent or gel without fabric softener at 40 °C as required. Allow the sheet to dry freely after washing, as tumble drying will shorten its life.
