You also found out that there are no viruses or bacteria behind your cold, but nasty little mites? Then you must have found out that there is a solution in the form of anti-mite bedding. We bought an anti-mite pillow with a zipper from the Czech company nanoSPACE to see if it would really help us with our allergic rhinitis. Read the following review which might help you too.

What pillow for allergy sufferers?
Not everyone has a mite problem, but those who do allergic to dust mites must or should make a major decision and change the bedding they sleep in. Over the course of two years, mites, their droppings and dead bodies, which make up up to 10% of the weight of a pillow, accumulate in a regular pillow, so it’s no wonder sensitive individuals have difficulties.
When choosing a pillow for allergy sufferers, you need to consider several factors:
- Material – The material of the pillow should prevent dust mites from multiplying. The most effective pillows are those with a nanofibre membrane.
- Filler – The material of the filler and its maintenance is also important. The hypoallergenic label does not necessarily mean that the pillow will protect you from dust mites. Hypoallergenic pillows are more of a solution for those with feather allergies, as the feather filling is replaced by a ball filling. Mites get into a lot of ball fillings and live there happily.
- Customising the filling – If the pillow has a zipper, it means that you can customise the filling to suit your needs and also maintain it easily.

How does the anti-mite pillow with zipper work for allergy sufferers?
The surface of the allergy pillow contains a nanofibre membrane. This acts as a filter that prevents dust mites and allergens from entering the pillow filling. The membrane is woven from extremely thin fibers with dimensions of several tens of nanometers – you simply cannot see the fiber with the naked eye.
The membrane with holes of 80 to 150 nm will not allow mites of 420,000 nm to pass through. The size of mite feces ranges from 1000 nm to 20,000 nm, so the membrane can handle them as well. Just for comparison – the holes in conventional pillows are only a few tens of micrometers in size, which is already a big enough welcome for mites.

Review: anti-mite pillow with zipper for allergy sufferers by nanoSPACE
Let’s move from theory to practice. We have acquired a zippered allergy pillow from nanoSPACEto see if we can safely rely on the nanofiber membrane.
Packaging
The pillow came well packaged in a recyclable box. The Anti-Mite Pillow with Allergy Zipper itself was still packaged in its protective zippered packaging. We recommend hiding this as you might find it useful for something else. Of course, the packaging also included information on how the product works and instructions on how to care for it.

Certification
The pillow material meets the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification . The award of the standard is preceded by a product screening for the presence of harmful substances and chemicals that can have a negative effect on human health.
The OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification therefore guarantees that the textile product meets strict criteria and does not contain any harmful substances in harmful concentrations. Products with this certificate are not only safe but also environmentally friendly.

Quality
We chose a pillow with dimensions 70×90 cm, which is stitched on both sides. Thanks to this, the filling spreads out nicely and doesn’t get pushed more on one side and less on the other, no matter which sleeping position we use. The dimensions exactly match the dimensions of our bed linen. NanoSPACE promises the breathability of the material, which we can only confirm, because when we sweat at night, the pillow is not wet. The pillow feels very nice to the touch, but that’s kind of the icing on the cake that you’ll notice when you put it on.

Functionality
After we unpacked the pillow, we put it on and tried it out right away. The difference was really noticeable after the first night. We weren’t woken up by constant sneezing, so the handkerchief was nice and dry in the morning. At first we thought it was just our feeling, because we simply believed that something would finally help us. But since sneezing at night hasn’t bothered us since then, it wasn’t a feeling, but the truth. The allergy pillow with zipper from nanoSPACE works and we highly recommend it to you.

How to wash an anti-mite pillow with a zipper for allergy sufferers?
You can wash the anti-mite pillow with zipper for allergy sufferers before the first use, but it is not necessary. The pillow is washed once a year, so there is almost no work to do with it apart from dressing. It must be washed without fabric softener and in a detergent gel that does not contain chlorine or phosphorus.
Set the washing machine to 40 °C. You can also wash the pillow at 60°C, but since you want the pillow to last as long as possible, this is not recommended. Forget the dryer and let the pillow dry freely. It may take some time, but it’s better to lose your pillow for a while than completely.
